If you’re not quite ready to dive into prep for the Spring semester, consider a few small things you can do right now to save yourself time and trouble in a few weeks. Here are three easy things you can do right now to make sure your Spring course is in good shape.

  1. Get your Canvas courses ready
    • Copy Canvas content from a previous semester: Canvas Course Import Tool
    • Build some structure into your course: Import the IT-ATS UD Template Winter 2022 or IT-ATS UD Template Spring 2022 from Canvas Commons into your Canvas course. Each template provides a framework from which instructors can build their own course and includes a set of Canvas Pages customized for the University of Delaware. Instructions are located in the first module.
    • Adjust all assignment dates at once: Due Date Modifier tool
  2. Schedule UD Capture Classroom Recording
    • Request UD Capture Classroom recording for your spring courses by Thursday, February 3 to ensure your first sessions are recorded. Requests made after February 3 may be delayed.
      • Webform: The webform lists all courses being taught. If you select “Yes” to use UD Capture, a checkbox appears below each course asking if you’d like to auto publish to the Media Gallery for that course. Auto Publishing to the Media Gallery will give students automatic access to recorded class sessions. Note: If you choose this option, be sure to enable the Media Gallery tool in your Canvas course.
      • Recording Date Exceptions: Use the comments field to specify dates you do not want recorded (for example, on the day of their midterm exam).
      • Approving Request:If a course is taught by multiple instructors, all instructors of record will receive the webform, in cadence, and each will need to approve the form before UD Capture Classroom can be activated.
    • Contact udcapture@udel.edu with any questions about classroom recording.
  3. Check up on your course materials
