Why should faculty care about building a classroom community? Students who bond with the faculty and their peers, are more motivated and committed to learning. Furthermore, they feel safe and will develop a sense of belonging.

Faculty members who engage in fostering collaboration, can help students be more successful and can rely on the students to provide feedback on how the course is going for them. “Students who report feeling a sense of community in the classroom are more likely to attend class, more likely to participate during class, and more likely to graduate from college.” (Elliott, D.,  Gamino, M., Jenkins, J.J., 2016).

Participants will walk away with easy to implement strategies that will result in better learning environments.
