If you have a policy on technology, now is a good time to check in with your students and see how that is going. You can remind students of the importance of responsible technology use, or create additional structure within the class sessions for when and how to use devices. If you created a community-based document with ground rules and consequences, ask students if they feel these rules need any revision.
How’s the communication going? Lots of emails? None? Remind students about how they can best reach you and reiterate any policies that you have around communication.
Many instructors have differing policies and attitudes when it comes to attendance and participation. The halfway point in a semester is a good moment to revisit those and discuss them with students who may be facing heavy workloads and responsibilities across the board.
