Making sure you are clear on why students are doing what they are doing is one of the best ways to make sure you are on track for a successful semester. If you walked your students through the course goals in the first week of class, it’s a good idea to review them before a midterm assignment hits. This will also help you make decisions should you need to recalibrate your course due to a disruption in your teaching.
If you use the modules organizational system in Canvas, you may also want to add your learning outcomes to modules so that students can see them on the overview page for each module. This is especially helpful when students have many courses to manage during the semester; each time they access the module for your course, they will see the objectives and have a sense of how their work fits within the broader context of the semester.
