This year’s SIT is different from our previous years. We’ve designed a flexible program to meet the needs of all of our instructors.
So what’s new?
One day online, one day in person.
- Join us June 1st in person (more details below) and June 2nd from anywhere, via zoom. If you’re looking forward to an in-person event, join us on June 1st for a full-day program of in person sessions and a keynote address in the morning. Coffee service starts the day, and lunch is included. If you prefer to join from home, or wherever you are working this summer, Day 2 is an online event. Grab a cup of coffee and log-in for a second full-day of sessions and a special keynote panel.
A keynote panel that includes high school educators and Unidel Professor Roberta Golinkoff.
- On day 2, we’ll welcome a panel of Delaware high school educators and UD faculty who will address questions such as: How are educators and learners adapting to post-pandemic teaching and learning? What realignment of expectations is necessary in today’s environment? The session is titled: “Research to Pedagogy to Practice: Contemporary Perspectives on the Transition from High School to College.” Panelists include: Nicole Blume from Smyrna High School, Tim Jadick from Newark Charter School, David Teague, Professor of English in the Associate in Arts Program, and Roberta Golinkoff, Unidel H. Rodney Sharp Professor of Education at the University of Delaware. Moderated by Liz Farley-Ripple, associate professor in the School of Education and director of the Partnership for Public Education at the University of Delaware, come and learn about your future students and some strategies you can employ as an instructor to facilitate their success without reducing the academic rigor of your curriculum.
A new location for our in-person event, June 1st.
- This year’s in-person SIT (June 1) will take place in between Purnell Hall and Trabant. All sessions, as well as registration and the morning’s coffee service, will be held in Purnell. Lunch will be served in the Trabant Multipurpose Rooms.
This event will follow all UD guidelines regarding masking. As of publication, masks are required in all classroom settings.
